Rafael-MelissaRafael is the creative director and founder of Go Dance Sydney. Rafael received his Latin Dance training from some of Australia’s most renowned Latin Dance professionals, eventually earning his spot managing and developing talent at one of Australia’s most recognised Latin Dance companies.

After a number of years as an instructor, choreographer, competitor and company director within the Latin Dance industry, Rafael has found new inspiration in his latest project and founded Australia’s first not for profit Latin Dance academy – The Australian Institute of Latin Dance (AILD). In addition to developing talent through the AILD, Rafael is regular host of Sydney Salsa FM and is an enthusiastic Latin Dance events promoter. He recently collaborated in creating the 1st Sydney International Zouk Festival with the world-renowned founder of Zouk Lambada, Mr Adilio Porto.

Raf has enjoyed the success of national competition and thrill of international performance and is now regularly invited to Judge some of Australia’s most prestigious national Latin dance competitions.

Melly is the Senior Talent developer and founding member of Go Dance Sydney. Known for her ability to spin gracefully across a dance floor and long set of turns – Melly’s dance technique tuition has become a sought after attraction. Every dance move she touches becomes cleaner and polished.

Melly, a dancer by nature started dancing at the tender age of 3. She received her formal dance training in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Cabaret throughout the well known Johnny Young Talent Time Academy and The Australian Dance and Talent Centre. As an adult she would specialise and enjoy and 8 year long career in Modern Jive that included teaching for Ceroc Australia, performing, competing and running her own dance company.

It was in 2010 that Melly would discover Salsa and begin to explore the art. The same year, she successfully competed as an amateur in the Australian Salsa Classic, and again in 2012 at the Australian Salsa Open, to win the title of Australian Salsa Champion (Professional Teams Division). Melly is now a lead instructor at Go Dance Sydney and has contributed in creating some of the school’s most memorable choreographies. She currently resides in Sydney with her partner Rafael, and can be found teaching at some of Australia’s best Latin Dance festivals.
