Nola and Alberto

Nola-AlbertoNOLA KOMIS is Founder/Director and Principal Instructor of A Touch of Salsa and a Latin Dance School in the St George and Sutherland Shire of Sydney since 2006.

Nola also has a Ballroom background, having studied Ballroom for three years prior to being ‘addicted’ and taking up Salsa and taught Greek dancing to children prior to that!

Nola was part of the team which placed third at the Australian Bachata championships in 2011 (A Touch of Salsa’s first ever competition).

A highlight of Nola’s career was when she and some of the Students from A Touch of Salsa attended the Athens Salsa Spring Festival in March 2012. Nola, with her team, performed twice and Nola taught two workshops at the Festival – a Rueda and a Bachata – both in Greek!

Nola is also a national and international judge having judged the World Latin Dance qualifiers in Athens Greece in March 2012, 2013 and 2014, other Latin and Ballroom Dancesport competitions since 2006, the NZ Salsa Solos competition in August 2012 and the Victorian Bachata competition in October 2012.

Nola was a Finalist of Business Person of the Year in 2012 and 2014 and A Touch of Salsa took out the Small Business Awards in July 2012 for “Most Outstanding Dance School” and A Touch of Salsa also won the Excellence in Business Awards run by Hurstville Council in 2014, beating three well know gyms in the area!.

ALBERTO TORRES-PEREZ joined A Touch of Salsa in April 2012. Alberto is from Spain and has been dancing for 15 years. He is trained in Cuban Salsa, LA Salsa, Bachata, Zouk and has dabbled in contemporary. Alberto competed in the NZ Dancesport Championships in August 2012 and in the International Salsa Solos competition in Brisbane in November 2012.

A TOUCH OF SALSA: is the only dance school in the St George Sutherland Shire in Sydney’s south that offers dance classes in Cuban Salsa, LA Salsa, Rueda, Bachata, Zouk, performance courses, bootcamps, bridals and more…

A TOUCH OF SALSA has recently acquired their very own Latin Dance Studios in Kogarah, only a two minute walk from the Railway. With 200sqm of dance floor space to dance on, there is lots of room for everyone to enjoy their dancing.

A Touch of Salsa placed 2nd in the Amateur Teams Division of the Australian Bachata Championships in 2013, Placed 1st in the Amateur Salsa Solos Australia Latin Division Mens Solo, placed 2nd in the Latin Division Pro Am Duets of the Salsa Solos International and Placed 3rd in the Latin Men’s Professional Division of the Salsa Solos in 2013, placed 4th in the Pro-Am Latin Duets Division in 2014, 2nd in the men’s Salsa Masters’ Category in 2014 and 1st in the Ladies Latin Masters category in 2014. A Touch of Salsa also took a kids team to the Solos where they placed 4th.
