Jaxen and Cecilia
Jaxen was Malaysia’s 2005 Salsa Champion and also founder of Rhythm Identity. From Salsa, he made his way into becoming Malaysia’s most recognized Bachata instructor by being the major driving force for the advancement of Bachata in Malaysia and also pioneering the Bachata Moderna Style. He is fondly known as Malaysia’s “Bachata King” and is well known for his fusion style where he mixes Bachata with Zouk. Jaxen’s Moderna Style also fuses various dance forms with Bachata, giving the dance more variety and fun factor yet still remaining true to the sensual and sometimes cheeky aspects of Bachata.
He is also the pioneer of Zouk in Malaysia, being the first recognized Zouk dance instructor in Malaysia and is working hard to grow the Zouk dance scene. He is the main person responsible for the growth of Zouk in Malaysia and his passion for this dance has given him the chance to appear in an interview on Malaysian national TV on Zouk and also in Malaysia’s top dance magazine; Just Dance!
Cecilia has been Jaxen’s dance partner for a year now. She is very new to the dance scene but has grown exponentially as a dancer and is now teaching and performing Salsa, Bachata and Zouk together with Jaxen. They have travelled together in and out of Malaysia, teaching workshops and performing. This year will be their 2nd time back to teach and perform in the Sydney International Bachata Festival 2010.
